Bass fishing at Kurwongbah on the hottest day of the year

Saturday 31 August 2024

Most lures these days come loaded with either one or two treble hooks, the idea being to maximise your chances of a hook up. However, that's a lot of hooks... On the excellent Rapala Rap-V Blades we're talking 5 razor sharp barbed hooks which is a lot of sharp points when fishing in a kayak. That's also a lot of 'snagging up' potential when fishing tight to structure, especially lily pads. So this tutorial is how to set them up with just two hooks, making the lure as weedless as possible and safer to use on the water but without sacrificing your hook up rate.

But then to cap it all I tested positive for COVID on Thursday morning... So the question was: to fish or not to fish?!

I can't quite believe it, but we appear to have already started fishing the 'winter patten' at Lake Kurwongbah?! Looking back through my videos, the change appears to be around two months earlier than last year which is a bit of a shocker...

Lake Kurwongbah continues to be tough... But when it gets tough, break out the worms!

Sunday 5 May 2024

Something a bit different today, I fished the afternoon up at Lake kurwongbah. As with the last couple of months, it was tough going but I saved the dreaded blank with the worms! Absolute blank saver bait, the bass were on them in seconds 😉
